DISCOVERING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Every person is gifted by God. Spiritual gifts are innate – inborn orientations that transcend skills or abilities. When we understand our spiritual gifts, we understand that certain aspects of our lives are natural, normal, and easy. No one has to work hard to use his or her gifts, though each and every gift can be developed and strengthened.

For most of us, a handful of gifts will be evident at any point in our lives. In different situations, at various phases of our lives, new gifts may emerge as others recede. Spiritual gifts are from God, and God’s spirit blows where it wills – what is strong in us today, may become secondary tomorrow. What remains constant is that we are gifted by God to use our gifts for the common good.

Often Christians are curious about how they can best serve, and how they are best equipped to serve.  One step in this process is to discover your spiritual gifts.  At Warehouse 839 we offer a class specifically for this purpose called "Discovering My Gifts".  In this class you will join with others in a small group to work together towards the common goal of discovering the gifts that God has given you with which to serve.  The class is a low-key, cooperative effort to learn and discover what God has in store for you.

  • If you would like to learn more about the class, you can email our Small Groups Coordinator, Beth Palmer, at humcadulted@yahoo.com .
  • If you would like to see an an example of what a Spiritual Gifts Assessment is like, there is a sample at the United Methodist Church web site pages called My Spiritual Journey.

Finally, if you are interested in enrolling in the class, you can check the box on the attendance card on Sunday morning, or email Beth Palmer .
